I think you have to take these economic stories with a grain of salt. After all, if you click back
through stories from the past year, the economists who today are doom-and-gloom were calling the
Salt Lake City economy "recession-proof." The truth is that this state is in much better position to
weather the storm than others. It has a multi-million-dollar rainy-day fund instead of
multiple-billion-dollar deficit like other states, and its government is considered the most fiscally
adept in the country. That's why our recession won't be as deep or as long as those in a lot of

The Utah Attorney General’s Office is close to an agreement to halt what it considers illegal
foreclosures by Bank of America, which has conducted a majority of foreclosures against
homeowners since the subprime-fueled collapse of the housing bubble.
Utah approves jobs incentives
The state of Utah on Thursday approved an incentive of as much as $3.2 million for Lifetime
