Welcome to Sugar House Utah. If you have made it this far down the page, you probably have far too much time on your hands -- or, you could just be serious about living in Sugar House. If that's the case, this site should help. It is not a day-to-day news site. I don't have time to gather and compile every planning commission decision or commercial deal. But the site is the most comprehensive overview of the area that you are going to find, from house styles to schools to businesses. This is the best place I have lived in my 54 years, and I have lived in and traveled to a lot of places. Just for kicks, pay a visit to 9000Miles.net There is no other place I've seen that combines the economic opportunity with pleasant climate and outdoor recreation opportunities as Salt Lake City's Sugar House neighborhoods. If you want more information about this amazing place, please don't hesitate to call me or email me. My contact information is at the top of the page.

foothills

The hills above the University of Utah, a few minutes' bike ride north of Sugar House, are bursting with color this spring.  From here you can hike all day and never see another person, or drop back down for a rollicking mountain bike ride on the Shoreline Trail. In winter, we are only half an hour from the ski slopes. Sugar House is the best!

There Is No Better Place to Live

All Utah real estate is not created equal. Homes in Salt Lake City sell when Emigration Canyonother markets in the state go flat, and Sugar House real estate moves fastest of all. Sugar House and its surrounding neighborhoods are head and shoulders above the rest. This Old House magazine says it's one of the best old-home neighborhoods in the U.S. I have lived here for more than 30 years, and I have to second that sentiment. Click through some of the links along the left side of this page and I am sure you will agree that these neighborhoods offer a combination of interesting architecture, natural beauty and convenience unmatched in other parts of Salt Lake County. Here are a few great reasons to start your Salt Lake City home search in Sugar House Utah.

No Commute

Sugar House is just a few minutes from downtown and the University of Utah.   Abutting two major freeways, it is also just minutes away from surrounding communities.  It takes about 10 minutes to get from Sugar House Park to the airport.

Houses With Character

Sugar House properties are some of the oldest in the Salt Lake Valley. They built them solid in the old days, and entire neighborhoods were constructed with brick. Click the link at left called THESE OLD HOUSES to see the styles of homes that make the Sugar House area unique.

Wonderful Walkable Neighborhoods

Majestic sycamore trees line Michigan Avenue in the Harvard/Yale district (right).  Most of the Sugar House neighborhoods feature leafy streets, and it's a short stroll from any of them to great restaurants and trendy stores. From Michigan, it's an easy walk to the University of Utah football stadium, the site of the 2002 Winter Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Fun Around Every Corner

Like to bike? In Sugar House you are never more than a few minutes' ride from a great trail -- Millcreek Canyon (middle right) or on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. You can walk to University of Utah football games (top left) or to the Hogle Zoo (top right). Sugar House Park (below right) is a gorgeous urban green space. Bonneville Golf Course is walking distance from many neighborhoods as well. Emigration Creek is a natural gem that runs through several Sugar House neighborhoods. I used to take my dog there daily (and picked up after her). Click on SLC ATTRACTIONS at left to view a more complete list of the area's amenities. Folks in South Jordan or Daybreak can get in their cars, fight traffic for 45 minutes and visit these places, too. From many streets in Sugar House, you can walk.

The Best Schools in the State

Check the test scores of Salt Lake City area schools by clicking on a link on the Schools Page. Sugar House area schools always top the list for Utah. Many, such as Bonneville Elementary in the Harvard/Yale
neighborhood, are brand-new. Salt Lake City voters passed a bond a few years ago
to knock down and rebuild every school in the district. Despite this huge investment in infrastructure, property taxes in Salt Lake City are low compared with most states. The same is true for other Utah cities.
